We very much enjoyed attending TAI 2017, the number one event for Housing Professionals in Wales. We were exhibiting there to launch our product range and to introduce ourselves. We got to meet lots of like minded individuals interested in tackling tenancy fraud and other important issues. The content of all speakers was interesting and engaging and it was great to hear everyone's thoughts on various subjects. Our fraud expert, Senior Investigator Yvette Kottaun also held a Q & A session on tenancy fraud with lots of questions and debate. We will definitely be back next year!! Here are some pictures from the 3 days. And yes we were playing with Play doh.. to find out why watch this space!!

Right to Buy Latest News

Councils spending thousands of pounds to buy back properties sold to tenants at massive discount

Around 16% of council homes sold by 10 councils under the boosted Right to Buy have been to tenants on housing benefit, raising fears of fraud.

Councils responding to a joint investigation by BBC Radio 4 and Inside Housing revealed 721 sales out of a total of 4,538 were to tenants in receipt of benefit when they applied.

A sale to a tenant on housing benefit does not prove fraud, but has been described as a “red flag”. This is because to gain a mortgage, someone else would have to be providing the funds.

The figures date back to 2012, when the government lifted discounts on Right to Buy properties to £75,000. They have since increased to £77,900 nationally and £103,900 in London.

It comes ahead of the discounts being rolled out to 1.3m housing association tenants.
